What We Do
New Beginnings is exclusively case management services for clients who have been previously incarcerated. Clients will have individualized case management such as, employment preparation services including professional development, resume preparation, and mock interviews, job application assistance, support obtaining work documents, linkage to medical care, housing, technology, and food assistance. To ensure long-term success for our clients, we also link individuals to other organizations to help meet their needs. Our dedicated team will continue to support all clients throughout their time in the program.

Program Coordinator
Paola Alvarado, B.A.
Paola Alvarado is the Program Coordinator for the New Beginnings Warm Handoff Program at UPAC. In this role, Paola supports a team providing client oriented case management services, while creating bridges with other organizations within the San Diego community in order to reduce recidivism rates. Prior to becoming Program Coordinator, Paola was the Homeless Outreach Worker Coordinator at UPAC. Paola has worked with both the reentry and unhoused populations since her undergrad at UC Santa Cruz and most recently worked in partnership with OCLA in order to create a mobile app and directory for all the resources for under-served communities in LA County. Being from the San Diego-Tijuana border area, Paola has become passionate about accessibility and community and believes that we have a collective responsibility to ensure that all of our neighbors have the necessary resources to live a fulfilling life regardless of their background.
